If you're dealing with any of these four issues, then there's the chance you could be deficient in vitamin D.

And if this is your first time visiting us, my name is Matt O'Connor.

I'm a nutritionist and the founder of Honour Health.

And in this video, we're going to cover four of the first signs or symptoms that you could be low in vitamin D.

Symptom #1: Low Energy, Fatigue, Tired

Symptom number one, you have low energy or you're always feeling fatigued or tired.

Vitamin D actually plays a key role in supporting the mitochondria.

The powerhouse of your cells and where we get our energy from.

If you're low in vitamin D, the mitochondria don't have the raw material that they need to function properly.

Which then can lead to symptoms like low energy, fatigue, struggling to just show up as your best.

Symptom #2: Sore Muscles

Number two is your muscles are always feeling sore, feeling weak.

Our muscles actually have vitamin D receptors & vitamin D supports the proper working function of our muscles.

Another way of saying that for our muscles to work and function properly, they need vitamin D.

And vitamin D also supports the repair and the rebuild of our muscles after we've broken them down.

Think like after you've trained or you've been to the gym.

Vitamin D helps in the repair and rebuild phase.

If you're low in vitamin D, then again, your muscles don't have the raw material they need to function properly and to repair themselves.

So, if your muscles are always feeling sore, there could be the chance that you're deficient in vitamin D.

Symptom #3: You're Always Getting Sick

The third sign is you're always getting sick.

You're that person out of your friend group who's always catching a cold.

Vitamin D is absolutely essential to supporting our immune system.

And when we're low in vitamin D, our immune system is less effective at going after and destroying viruses and infections.

And why so often you see a direct correlation between people who are always getting sick and vitamin D deficiency.

Symptom #4: Low Mood, Not Feeling Your Best

And number four is your mood just feels off.

You just don't feel like yourself.

Because vitamin D supports a range of neurotransmitters in our brain responsible for us feeling good.

If we're low in vitamin D, we're again missing the raw material that our body needs to make us feel good.

The 'Winter Depression Phenomenon'

There's actually a pretty unique phenomenon in places like Europe and the UK ...

That during the colder months, the months where the sun is not shining as much, that rates of depression actually increase

And it's really no surprise because in those colder months, the reality is that we're not getting outside and getting our skin exposed to the sun.

We're just not getting enough vitamin D!

Which can lead to many of us just feeling average, feeling like literally shells of ourselves.

Because we're missing this key nutrient for our mood.

Deficiency Is On The Rise

The reality is that in this modern world that we live in, it's becoming harder and harder for us to get outside and get our skin exposed to the sun.

We're working more indoors.

We're constantly being told to stay out of the sun.

And we're losing this connection to this vital life force.

So, if you're dealing with any of these issues; low energy, fatigue, your muscles always feeling sore and tight.

You're always getting sick, or you just don't feel like yourself, you're a bit down in the dumps.

You need to look at your lifestyle and see if you're getting enough vitamin D.

Are you getting outside and getting your skin exposed to the sun?

If not, this has to become a priority.

And if for whatever reason your lifestyle doesn't allow you to get outside and get exposed to the sun.

Then you need to supplement with vitamin D.

Because the impact that vitamin D has in our body is way too important to ignore.
